Elizabeth K. Caplan, CPA Liz Caplan received her
undergraduate degree from George Washington University. Early in her
career, Liz served on the staff of the regional accounting firm of Grabush, Newman
& Company. After that, she served as Treasurer of WCBM
Radio in Owings Mills, Maryland.
In 1987, Liz founded Caplan & Company, P.A. Her clients
include many locally owned businesses in the Baltimore area. Liz has
extensive experience in both corporate and individual taxation. In
addition, she specializes in assisting clients in buying and
selling their businesses.
In addition to her work with Caplan & Company, Liz currently serves as
Treasurer on the board of the Women's Law Center of Maryland.
Richard M. Caplan, CPA
Richard Caplan received his
undergraduate degree from Washington and Lee University. He also holds a
Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland, as well
as a Master of Science in Taxation from the University of Baltimore.
Richard has been licensed as a certified public accountant since 1980. The
early portion of his career was devoted to real estate management and work
with individuals of high net worth. In 1992, he joined his wife
Elizabeth's firm, Caplan and Company, P.A.
In addition to working with both business and individual tax clients,
Richard's practice includes an extensive concentration in the areas of
estate administration and trusts. He has worked with many attorneys and
personal representatives in the preparation of all accounting issues
related to Internal Revenue Service Filings, individual state filings and
court filings. He also works with the trustees of Special Needs Trusts in
preparing the annual reporting documents required by the court's
overseeing trust administration.
In his spare time, Richard is an avid black and white photographer. He has
regular exhibitions throughout the country and has received several awards for his
work. This experience has led him to help many artists to achieve
their financial goals.
